1. Brush twice a day for 2 minutes
Make sure to clean every part of your mouth to avoid tartar build up and prevent gum disease and tooth decay
2. Visit your dentist regularly
You should visit your dentist twice a year for a check-up and clean, not only to clean your teeth but so they can catch potential issues early on
3. Use fluoride toothpaste
Fluoride fights germs that can lead to decay, as well as provide a protective barrier for your teeth
Flossing is important for removing plaque in between your teeth that your brush can’t reach and lower inflammation in the area
5. Limit Sugary and acidic foods
Sugar and acidic fruits, teas and coffees convert into acid in the mouth. These acids can then erode enamel of your teeth and lead to cavities.
6. Don’t neglect your tongue
Brush your tongue every time you brush your teeth, plaque can also build up on your tongue. This can lead to bad mouth odor and other oral health issues.
7. Avoid smoking
Tobacco not only stains your teeth, but also weakens them and as associated with higher risk of gum disease
8 Use mouthwash
Certain mouthwashes can benefit oral health and help with bad breath. A mouthwash cannot substitute brushing and flossing, but it can compliment these practices
9. Drink more water
Water is the best beverage for your oral health in that it contains no sugar that can harm your teeth. Not only that but it can help wash out some of the negative effects of sticky and acidic foods and beverages in between brushes
10. Spit don’t rinse
Spit out the excess toothpaste before rinsing your mouth to avoid washing away the fluoride that protects your teeth
