Child Dental Benefit Schedule

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) makes it a little easier for parents to look after their children’s teeth. Eligible children are provided with $1,000 to use over a two calendar year period for basic dental services.

A child is eligible if: they are 2-17 years of age for at least one day of the calendar year; are eligible for Medicare; and are either part of a family receiving Family Tax Benefit Part A, or one of the following Australian Government payments:

  • Youth Allowance
  • Disability Support Pension
  • Parenting Payment
  • Special Benefit
  • Carer Payment
  • Double Orphan Pension
  • Veteran’s Children Education Scheme, if the child is 16 or over
  • Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act Education and Training Scheme, if the child is 16 or over.

Make sure your details are up-to-date with Medicare if you think your child may be eligible. You may update Medicare details by calling the patient helpline on 132 011. For Family Tax Benefit A matters, contact Centrelink on 136 150.
