At Toothcare We Care, we have a keen interest in children’s dentistry, and our team members are dedicated to ensuring your kids enjoy healthy smiles for life.
Going to the dentist at a young age can be a strange and frightening experience for young ones. That is why we believe it is important to make that experience as positive as possible, so that seeing a dentist does not produce feelings of anxiety.
It is also important to establish good oral hygiene from a young age, so that this habit continues and results in good dental health for life.
We recommend that your children come see us for their first check-up once most of their teeth come in, which usually happens around age 2-3. The first step is to make sure your child is comfortable. Easing them into the visit can reduce their anxiety and make them more willing to cooperate
Here’s what else you can expect during the appointment:
While a full cleaning might not happen on the first visit, this initial meeting will pave the way to making your child feel comfortable in the dentist’s chair. Expect the dentist to get a look inside your child’s mouth to assess the teeth, gums, jaw, bite, and any other oral issues.
To prevent tooth decay and other dental problems, your child should see their dentist at least twice a year.
Baby teeth are very important in ensuring your child’s jaw and adult teeth grow and develop correctly as they help guide permanent teeth when they are about to come out
